At the designated time, we'll meet next to the Dom Dinis Statue to begin a guided tour of the University of Coimbra, one of Portugal's oldest educational institutions.
Our journey starts at the Paço das Escolas, a royal palace that has housed university faculties since 1537. This architectural complex includes the University Tower and showcases significant historical details.
Inside the university, we'll visit the Sala dos Capelos, the main hall for prestigious academic ceremonies, while sharing intriguing stories from its corridors.
We will explore the university's notable alumni and enter the Joanina Library, recognized for its baroque aesthetics, considered one of the world's most beautiful.
Additionally, we will visit the Chapel of St. Michael, dating from the sixteenth century, a significant site for the brotherhood of Professors and Students.
After an hour and a half of exploration, we will conclude the tour with a deeper appreciation for the university's rich history.
