Learn professional chocolate-making techniques at the Choco-Story Colmar Museum and explore its interactive exhibits.
Activity Details
Welcome to Choco-Story Colmar! On your visit day, go to 12 Place de la Cathédrale in Colmar.
Start with a chocolate-making workshop lasting 45 minutes, where you'll learn techniques such as dipping while decorating your own chocolate bars. Guided by a chocolatier, you'll create confections to take home.
After the workshop, explore the museum’s interactive exhibit on the history of the cacao bean with an English audio guide. Discover cocoa’s origins and its introduction to Europe by conquistadors in the 15th century.
The exhibit covers cocoa's role in Mayan, Aztec, and Inca cultures. Interactive stations allow you to experience aromas of different cocoa varieties and learn about chocolate and praline creation.
A highlight includes a sculpture of the Statue of Liberty made entirely from cocoa, honoring Auguste Bartholdi, the Colmar-born creator of the original statue in New York.
Your visit concludes with a chocolate-tasting session.
