- 10/10 | 1 Bewertung
On this day trip to Damas Island, we'll visit the Pingüino de Humboldt National Reserve, where we'll discover its landscapes and local fauna.
Tour Details
We will pick you up from your hotel in La Serena at the indicated time. During the journey, you will enjoy the sights of the Quebrada Juan Soldado and the geological sanctuary of Caleta Hornos.
After approximately an hour, our first stop will be at Quebrada Los Choros, where you will discover the native flora and fauna. Following this, we'll drive for another 30 minutes to the small cove of Punta de Choros, where we will embark on a boat trip to the main islands of the Pingüino de Humboldt National Reserve.
We'll sail along the coast of Choros Island, observing its colony of Humboldt penguins, sea lions, and marine otters. The island also hosts numerous bird species, including pelicans and boobies.
The trip will continue to Damas Island, where you may see bottlenose dolphins. We will anchor for one hour of free time to stroll along the beach of Las Tijeras, where swimming, eating, or drinking is forbidden to preserve its scenery.
After the boat trip, we’ll head to a restaurant for a Chilean lunch that includes a starter, main course, dessert, and a drink, with vegetarian options available. Before returning to La Serena, we'll stop in the historic town of Los Choros, known for its ancient olive trees and its history with Pedro de Valdivia. We expect to return to your hotel about 10 to 11 hours after pickup.
Animal Sightings
The Choros and Damas islands are prime locations in the Pingüino de Humboldt National Reserve for marine wildlife sightings. However, the number of observable animals will depend on various factors, including weather and mating seasons.
