Join us on a journey through an Argentine city's history and architecture on our Córdoba Churches Tour. We'll visit the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Assumption and churches belonging to Capuchin and Jesuit orders.
Córdoba Churches Tour
At your chosen time, we'll meet at your hotel in central Córdoba. From there, we'll walk to San Martín Square and visit the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Assumption, a main Catholic building in this province.
Inside the Cathedral, we'll observe the Renaissance decoration from colonial times, including details on its barrel vault and the high altar with artwork made from embossed silver from Upper Peru. We will also pause in front of the tombs of dean Gregorio Funes and aristocrat Margarita Weild.
Nearby, we'll find the Church of Saint Teresa and the Monastery of Saint José de las Carmelitas Descalzas. Here, we'll learn about aspects of cloistered life. Our tour continues to the Church of the Society of Jesus, the oldest church in Córdoba and a World Heritage Site.
The last stop will be the Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, also known as Los Capuchinos Church. This neo-Gothic church, built in the early 20th century, features decorated vaults and artworks related to Saint Francis of Assisi.
The tour lasts 2 hours and 30 minutes, concluding at Los Capuchinos Church. Afterward, you may climb the bell tower for panoramic views.
Meeting point
Our walking tour starts from your hotel in the city centre. If you're outside the centre, you’ll need to make your way to the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Assumption in San Martín Square, where the guide will be waiting at the main entrance, at the intersection of Independencia and San Jerónimo Streets.
