Discover the history of the Jewish community on this tour of the Jewish quarter of Cordoba.
Tour Details
At the designated time, we will meet at the meeting point to start our tour of the Jewish quarter of Cordoba.
Our exploration will take us back to Roman times, when the Augustan era saw the construction of a walled perimeter where the Jewish quarter lies today. This led to the organisation and urbanisation of the Jewish Quarter.
With the arrival of the Muslims, the Jewish population gained influence as key buildings were located in their vicinity. They occupied the area until their expulsion during the Catholic Monarchs' reign.
During the tour, we will visit the Plaza de Maimonides and learn its historical names, including Plaza de los Armentas and Plaza del Arcediano. The present location of the Bullfighting Museum will also be noted.
We will navigate through winding, narrow streets, evidencing medieval city development, and visit sites significant to the Jewish community, such as the municipal souk and the market.
After one hour of exploring the Jewish Quarter, we will return to the starting point.
