Discover the history of the Jewish community on this tour of the Jewish quarter of Cordoba.
Tour Details
At the designated time, we'll meet at the meeting point to commence our tour of the Jewish quarter of Cordoba. The tour covers the significance of the Jewish population from Roman times, with a focus on the Augustan era when the city's walled perimeter was established. The Jewish Quarter was organised and urbanised during this period.
With the arrival of Muslims, the Jewish population gained more power, as significant buildings were located in their area until their expulsion during the reign of the Catholic Monarchs.
Highlights will include the Plaza de Maimonides, where we will learn about its historical names, including Plaza de los Armentas and Plaza del Arcediano. The current location of the Bullfighting Museum is also here.
We will navigate through winding, narrow streets, visiting locations important to the followers of the Star of David, such as the municipal souk and the market.
After an hour, we will return to the starting point.
