See behind Cordoba’s closed doors with a tour that reveals one of the city’s most intriguing and beautiful hidden treasures: its courtyards. Concealed from tourists’ eyes, the courtyards are a gem in the heart of the historic city, and we open their doors for you in a rare chance to admire these private pockets.

During the popular annual competition in May, the courtyards open their doors to the public, however for the rest of the year they remain closed. We visit between 10/12 popular houses that have won several prizes during the annual competition, and will therefore show you the best and prettiest of the courtyards not to be missed.

Cordoba’s courtyards are on Unesco’s List of Intangible Heritage of Humanity since 2012, and during the tour, you’ll find out why the courtyards played a great role in the history and culture of the city. Most of the courtyards feature a fountain in the middle in order to cool the summer heat, and each was adapted to the needs of the house. Each has its own distinctive character, with colorful flowers and plants decorating its walls, and you’ll be amazed at how pretty and ornate these courtyards are. The courtyard caretakers have poured their hearts and soul into these peaceful pockets in the heart of the city, and this is your opportunity to learn about and admire Cordoba’s hidden treasures.
