This hiking adventure offers two routes: the Talampaya Canyon and the Quebrada Don Eduardo. You can choose one or both routes to explore the landscapes of La Rioja.
Description
Upon reservation, you can select between the available hiking routes in Talampaya National Park. Tours start at the Talampaya Canyon Operational Center.
Both routes reach an altitude of 1300 meters (4,265 feet), but differ in duration and difficulty:
Quebrada Don Eduardo (3 hours)
This low-difficulty hike lasts around 3 hours through the Quebrada Don Eduardo. Participants will observe the landscape and may spot condors. The hike begins at a viewpoint overlooking the Talampaya riverbed, visiting geological formations such as El Flautista and the Gothic Labyrinth.
Talampaya Canyon (3 hours)
This easy-paced trek is approximately 5 kilometers (3 miles) long and covers the Talampaya Canyon. The route includes stops at the petroglyphs area and Awanda Cave, concluding with a visit to the Talampaya Botanical Garden.
Quebrada Don Eduardo + Talampaya Canyon (4 hours)
This low-difficulty option, lasting 4 hours, allows participants to experience highlights from both previous routes while learning about geological features, wildlife, and native plants.
Quebrada Don Eduardo + Talampaya Canyon + Gran Mirador (5.5 hours)
This medium-difficulty route includes all previous sites and a climb to the Gran Mirador. Participants can enjoy panoramic views of the canyons and geological formations in Talampaya National Park, ideal for photography.
