Talampaya Canyon or Don Eduardo Gorge Hiking Tour

This hiking adventure offers two routes: the Talampaya Canyon and the Quebrada Don Eduardo. You may choose one or both to explore the landscapes of La Rioja.

Description

Upon reservation, you can select from the hiking routes in Talampaya National Park, beginning at the designated time from the Talampaya Canyon Operational Center. Each route reaches 1300 meters (4,265 feet) in altitude, with varying duration and difficulty:

Quebrada Don Eduardo (3 hours)

This low-difficulty hike lasts approximately 3 hours, traversing the scenic Quebrada Don Eduardo. The hike begins at the viewpoint of La Catedral Gótica, overlooking the Talampaya riverbed, and continues to view El Flautista and the Geological Fault viewpoint, culminating in the Gothic Labyrinth.

Talampaya Canyon (3 hours)

This easy-paced trek also lasts 3 hours, covering about 5 kilometers (3 miles) of the Talampaya Canyon. Highlights include the petroglyphs area, Awanda Cave, and the Talampaya Botanical Garden, showcasing local flora.

Quebrada Don Eduardo + Talampaya Canyon (4 hours)

This low-difficulty option combines both previous routes in a 4-hour hike, exploring the region's geological features, wildlife, and native plants.

Quebrada Don Eduardo + Talampaya Canyon + Gran Mirador (5.5 hours)

This medium-difficulty route includes all previous sites and ascends to the Gran Mirador ("great lookout point") de Talampaya, providing expansive views of the park's landscapes, ideal for photography enthusiasts.
