When in northern France, don't miss the chance to secure your ticket to the captivating Coucy Castle, a trip through French history and culture in the heart of Picardy!
Why visit the Coucy Castle?
Nestled in the picturesque Picardy region, Coucy Castle is one of the grandest fortresses in northern France. Your entry ticket allows you to explore the remnants of this bastion constructed in the 13th century by Enguerrand III de Boves to safeguard his domain and showcase authority.
Though disassembled in 1652 and later used as a stone quarry, it was acquired by the French State in 1848. Various architects, including Viollet-le-Duc, undertook preservation efforts, but during World War I, the German army destroyed various structures, including the keep. Despite partial destruction, significant remnants of Coucy Castle remain, allowing visitors to stroll along the perimeter of the fortress and admire its historic remains.
