- 1 Bewertung
When in northern France, don't miss the chance to secure your ticket to Coucy Castle, a trip through French history and culture in the heart of Picardy.
Why visit the Coucy Castle?
Located in the Picardy region, Coucy Castle is one of the grandest fortresses in northern France. Your entry ticket allows you to explore its remnants, built in the 13th century by Enguerrand III de Boves, to protect his domain and showcase authority. The castle was disassembled in 1652 and served as a quarry until acquired by the French State in 1848. Preservation efforts by architects like Viollet-le-Duc have kept parts of its structure intact, though many watchtowers were destroyed during World War I.
Despite its damage, many remnants remain. Your ticket permits you to stroll along the perimeter of the fortress and see the remains of the former chapel and other architectural elements that illustrate its grandeur.
