Carretera Austral Sur 10-Day Bike Tour
Day 1: Coyhaique
This tour begins at 4 pm at the Huella Patagonica hostel in Coyhaique. We finalize route details that will cover the Carretera Austral Sur. The day includes bike preparation, dinner in Coyhaique, and overnight at the hostel.
Day 2: Coyhaique - Villa Cerro Castillo
After breakfast, we cycle along Chile's Route 7, noting the landscapes of Cerro Castillo National Park. Overnight is spent at a hostel in Villa Cerro Castillo.
Day 3: Villa Cerro Castillo - Murta Valley
We cycle on rugged paths to Laguna Verde and cross the Ibañez River's dead forest, influenced by the 1991 Hudson Volcano eruption. The day concludes with a picnic lunch and a night at a campsite in the Murta Valley.
Day 4: Murta Valley - Puerto Río Tranquilo
Post breakfast, we cycle through endemic forests to reach Puerto Río Tranquilo, visiting the marble chapels by boat. We camp in town overnight.
Day 5: Puerto Río Tranquilo - Puerto Bertrand
We cycle along the shores of General Carrera Lake, admiring landscapes until reaching Puerto Bertrand, where we stay in a cabin.
Day 6: Puerto Bertrand - Cochrane
Continuing along the Baker River, we take a hiking route at the confluence of the Baker and Neff rivers before reaching a hostel in Cochrane.
Day 7: Cochrane - Los Ñadis
We cycle past Esmeralda, Juncal, and Chacabuco lakes, ending the day at a campsite in Los Ñadis.
Day 8: Los Ñadis - Caleta Tortel
This day of cycling features wetlands and Andean landscapes, concluding with an overnight at a hostel in Caleta Tortel.
Day 9: Caleta Tortel - Coyhaique
After breakfast, we return by minibus to Coyhaique, arriving in the late afternoon and staying overnight at the Huella Patagonica hostel.
Day 10: Coyhaique
The tour concludes after breakfast at the hostel in Coyhaique.
Accommodation & meals
The tour includes 9 nights of accommodation with breakfast across various hostels and campsites. Lunches comprise snacks and a picnic bag. Dinners are provided at accommodations or local restaurants at an additional cost.
Bike rental
Bike and helmet rental is available upon reservation. Alternatively, participants can opt to bring their own equipment.
