Paso de Cortés Hiking Trip

This journey begins at 7 am at the Michoacán Market in Mexico City. From there, a minibus will transport us to the stunning Izta-Popo Zoquiapan National Park.

Upon our arrival, we will set off toward the Paso de Cortés trail, which is positioned between the majestic Popocatépetl and Ixtaccíhuatl volcanoes. Together, we will embark on an 11-kilometer trek through this beautiful wilderness, taking in captivating sights of volcanic rock, and the enchanting flow of rivers and waterfalls.

Throughout the hike, we will have the opportunity to observe local wildlife. While admiring the landscape characterized by thick coniferous forests, we might encounter native species such as coatis and volcano rabbits (also known as teporingo or zacatuche). Did you know? Volcano rabbits are recognized as the second smallest rabbit species globally!

Before concluding our adventure and returning to Mexico City, our group will enjoy a light lunch, which includes a sandwich, fruit, an energy bar, and water.

After our meal, we will board the minibus for the return journey, expected to arrive back at the meeting point around 6 pm.
