- 7 Stunden
Explore the Cajas National Park with us on this tour from Cuenca, where we will admire the Ecuadorian highlands and experience exotic vegetation.
Cajas National Park Tour
At 8:30 am, meet in Parque Calderón to board the bus. We will leave Cuenca and journey to the Cajas National Park, located 50 minutes away.
Our first stop will be Llaviucu Lagoon, situated at almost 10,000 feet (3,000 meters) above sea level, which is the lowest point in the park. Here, we will start a 1-hour 30-minute hiking route to explore local flora and fauna.
After the hike, we will continue to Loma de las Tres Cruces, located over 13,000 feet (4,000 meters) above sea level, where the continental divide between the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans is found. Expect spectacular views of the more than 200 glacier lakes in the park.
Next, we will make a brief stop at Toreadore Lake before visiting the Polilepys Forest, which contains thousand-year-old trees and is known for its biodiversity.
Following our activities, we will enjoy a delicious lunch at a local restaurant, including potato soup and a second course of either trout or roast chicken.
We will then begin our return journey, arriving back at Parque Calderón in Cuenca by 3 pm for farewells.
