Cajas National Park Tour
At 8:30 am, we will meet in Parque Calderón to board the bus. The journey to Cajas National Park takes about 50 minutes.
The first stop will be at the Llaviucu Lagoon, the lowest area of the park at nearly 10,000 feet (3,000 meters) above sea level. Here, we will start a 1-hour 30-minute hiking route to observe local flora and fauna.
After the hike, we will visit Loma de las Tres Cruces, at over 13,000 feet (4,000 meters) above sea level, which is the continental divide between the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans. Expect spectacular views of the park's glacier lakes, with more than 200 present.
Next, we'll make a brief stop at Toreadore Lake before heading to the Polilepys Forest, notable for its thousand-year-old trees and biological diversity.
After the activities, we will enjoy a delicious lunch at a local restaurant, featuring potato soup and a choice of trout or roast chicken.
We will return to Parque Calderón in Cuenca and conclude the tour at 3 pm.
