Chordeleg & Gualaceo Day Trip

After being picked up from your hotel in Cuenca, you will travel through the surrounding mountains. Your first stop will be San Bartolomé, known for its handcrafted guitars. You will have the chance to visit a workshop and learn about the luthiers’ craft.

Next, you will proceed to Chordeleg, a village noted for its ceramics and exquisite silver and gold filigree jewellery. You will see the technique used by local artisans in their workshop.

In Chordeleg, you will explore the Plaza Central and visit various artisan stores. Following this, you will head to Gualaceo, recognized for its textiles.

In Gualaceo, experience the vibrant daily life by exploring two traditional markets showcasing bright and intricately designed handwoven fabrics. You will visit a textiles workshop and learn about the different looms used by artisans, including the pre-Hispanic Ikat technique for weaving typical ponchos.

After 4 hours of exploring Azuay's artisan traditions, you will return to Cuenca and be dropped off at your original pickup point.
