Chordeleg & Gualaceo Day Trip
After pickup from your hotel in Cuenca, you will travel through the surrounding mountains to San Bartolomé, a traditional town known for its handcrafted guitars. You will visit a workshop to learn about the luthiers' techniques in guitar-making.
Your tour continues to Chordeleg, known for its ceramics and exquisite silver and gold filigree jewellery. You will witness local artisans at work and explore the Plaza Central, visiting various artisan stores.
Next, you will arrive in Gualaceo, recognized for its remarkable textiles. You will explore two traditional markets filled with vibrant handwoven fabrics. A textiles workshop visit will demonstrate the looms used by artisans, including the pre-Hispanic Ikat weaving technique commonly used for the region's ponchos.
After 4 hours of immersing yourself in the ancestral traditions of Azuay artisans, you will return to Cuenca and be dropped off at your original pickup point.
