Description
At the indicated time we'll pick you up from your hotel and start this complete tour of Cuenca, visiting the main attractions of the so-called Athens of Ecuador.
We'll begin at the Turi viewpoint for the best views of Cuenca. Photo opportunity! While there, we'll visit the workshop of the famous ceramist, the Eduardo Vega Gallery.
Next, we'll walk along the Barranco by the River Tomebamba, where we will see the remains of the hanging houses and the Broken Bridge. After this stroll, we'll head to the Pumapungo Museum, which features exhibitions on anthropology, archaeology, ethnography, art, documentation, and audiovisuals—it's the most important museum in the city.
Next, we will visit a Panama hat factory to learn about the making process from toquilla straw. You can find a range from simple designs to more colorful and elegant options.
Afterwards, we'll explore the historic centre of Cuenca, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and enjoy lunch at a local restaurant. We'll then visit the San Francisco market and the Plaza de las Flores, renowned for its exquisite open-air flower displays.
We'll continue to Abdon Calderon Park, offering views of the Old and New Cathedrals, the latter being one of the largest churches in Latin America.
The tour will conclude with your return to accommodation 7 to 8 hours later.
