Guided Tour of Cuenca
After being picked up from your hotel, you'll make your way to Cuenca's old town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, known for being one of the largest and best-preserved historic city centres in Ecuador.
The guided tour will begin at the Plaza de San Sebastián, where the 19th-century Church of San Sebastián is located. You will visit the Museum of Modern Art, which features exhibitions of contemporary art by Ecuadorian and foreign artists.
As you explore the historic city centre, you will visit local favorites like the San Francisco market and the open-air flower market at the Plaza de las Flores.
In Abdón Calderón Park, you will view the 16th-century Baroque-style Old Cathedral and the New Cathedral, noting the grand gold-leaf altar and pink marble floors.
You will tour a factory producing traditional toquilla straw hats, recognized as part of the Intangible Cultural Heritage.
Next, you will visit the banks of the River Tomebamba to see the colonial "hanging houses" and the famous Puento Roto, or Broken Bridge. The tour culminates at the Turi viewpoint for views over Cuenca.
After 4 hours, you will be returned to your hotel.
