Laguna Espejo Hiking Excursion

On this excursion from Malalcahuello, we will hike to Laguna Espejo located at the foot of the Sierra Nevada glacier in La Araucanía.

Laguna Espejo Hiking Excursion

We will start this hiking route from Malalcahuello at 7:30 am at Kilometer 0 of the Lonquimay Volcano Crossing.

The hike extends 22 kilometers (13.7 miles) in total, with medium difficulty. The route includes mountain stretches ranging from 1,720 to 2,554 meters (5,643 to 8,379 feet) in altitude. Several stops will be made to enjoy the landscapes.

Initially, we will cross a wooded area observing native botanical species such as araucarias and ñirres. After this, the trekking route leads to the eastern face of the Sierra Nevada glacier, where Laguna Espejo, or 'Mirror Lake,' is located.

While enjoying the reflection of the mountains on the lake, we will have a snack that includes an energy bar, a candy, and an isotonic drink. The Salto Punta Negra waterfall is notable among the waterfalls that flow into the lagoon.

After visiting Laguna Espejo, we will walk back to the meeting point, arriving at 4:30 pm.
