Laguna Espejo Hiking Excursion
We'll start this hiking route from Malalcahuello at 7:30 am at Kilometer 0 of the Lonquimay Volcano Crossing. The hike will cover a total distance of 22 kilometers (13.7 miles) and is of medium difficulty, with altitudes ranging from 1,720 to 2,554 meters (5,643 to 8,379 feet). Several stops will be made to enjoy the landscapes.
The first portion of the route features a wooded area with native botanical species, including araucarias and ñirres. After leaving the forest, we will reach the eastern face of the Sierra Nevada glacier, where Laguna Espejo, also known as 'Mirror Lake,' is located. We will enjoy the reflection of the mountains on the lake while snacking on an energy bar, a candy, and an isotonic drink. Notable waterfalls, particularly the Salto Punta Negra waterfall, can also be seen here.
After our time at Laguna Espejo, we will return to the meeting point, arriving at 4:30 pm.
