Oropéndola Waterfall & Las Pailas Hiking Tour

In this hiking tour of the Oropéndola waterfall and Las Pailas, we'll discover two of the main natural jewels of the Rincón de la Vieja National Park.

Description

We will meet at Hotel Hacienda Guachipelin at your chosen time. From this rural lodging in the Rincon de la Vieja National Park, we will embark on a hiking tour to explore this protected area in northern Costa Rica.

The first part of the hike covers 3.5 km to reach the Las Pailas sector, known for its volcanic landscapes. Here, we will encounter smoke fumaroles, mini geysers, and bubbling volcanic mud pits.

As we traverse this terrain, we will observe more than 300 species of birds and native animals like armadillos, coatis, and iguanas. We will also look for different kinds of monkeys, including white-faced, howler, and spider monkeys, highlighting the biodiversity of Rincón de la Vieja.

After exploring the local fauna and flora, we will continue to the Oropéndola waterfall, which falls from a height of 25 meters into a natural pool of the Blanco River.

We will rest for a few minutes near the waterfall and then walk back to the meeting point, arriving approximately 3.5 hours after departure.
