Oropéndola Waterfall & Las Pailas Hiking Tour

In this hiking tour of the Oropéndola waterfall and Las Pailas, we'll discover two of the main natural jewels of the Rincón de la Vieja National Park.

At your chosen time, we'll meet at Hotel Hacienda Guachipelin. From this rural lodging in Rincón de la Vieja National Park, we'll embark on a hiking tour to explore the main features of this protected area in northern Costa Rica.

In the first part of the route, we'll hike 3.5 km to reach the Las Pailas sector. This area, known for its volcanic landscapes, showcases smoke fumaroles, mini geysers, and bubbling volcanic mud pits.

During the hike, we'll observe over 300 species of birds and native animals such as armadillos, coatis, and iguanas. We will also look for various monkey species, including white-faced, howler, and spider monkeys, highlighting the biodiversity of Rincón de la Vieja.

After exploring the local fauna and flora, we'll continue towards the Oropéndola waterfall, which cascades from a height of 25 meters into a natural pool of the Blanco River.

We'll take a short rest by the waterfall before returning to the meeting point, arriving approximately 3.5 hours after departure.
