Goree Island Private Trip
Pickup will occur from your hotel around 9 am, followed by a ride in an air-conditioned vehicle to the port of Dakar, where a ferry will be ready to take you to Goree Island.
The ferry journey lasts approximately 20 minutes, leading to the small island off Senegal's Cape Verde Peninsula. Goree, recognized for its prominent role in Africa's slave trade for over three centuries, was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1978.
To gain insights into this dark period of history, the tour includes a visit to the House of Slaves, a museum commemorating the millions of individuals who were held captive and sold here, with the practice concluding in 1848 when France abolished slavery.
Afterward, the group will stroll through the narrow streets featuring colonial houses adorned with colorful Bougainvillea flowers and will observe the local lifestyle.
Upon completion of the trip, participants will return to the ferry for the journey back to Dakar, where transportation will be provided to return to the hotel.
