A trip to Goree Island is an essential experience for visitors to Dakar, focusing on its significance as a center for the Atlantic slave trade.

Goree Island Private Trip

We will collect you from your hotel at around 9 am before heading in an air-conditioned vehicle to the port of Dakar. A ferry will take you to the island of Goree.

After approximately 20 minutes, we will arrive on the island, which was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1978 due to its role in Africa's slave trade over three centuries.

To learn more about this period in history, we will visit the House of Slaves, a museum dedicated to the millions of individuals held captive and sold here. The practice ended in 1848 when France abolished slavery.

Later, we will walk through the narrow streets to view the colonial houses adorned with Bougainvillea flowers. You will also see the beach and observe local life today.

At the end of the trip, we will return to the ferry for the journey back to Dakar, where a bus will take you back to your hotel.
