Lompoul Desert, Senegal + Saloum River Deltas: 10 Day Tour Package

Senegal features unique treasures to explore on this 10-day tour of the Lompoul Desert and the deltas of the Senegal and Saloum rivers.

Description

Day 1: Dakar - Lac Rose

Upon landing at Blaise Diagne airport, transfer to the Lac Rose hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Lac Rose - Saint-Louis

Post-breakfast, visit Lac Rose, known for its changing water colors, view its beaches and filaos forests, and observe salt extraction. Optionally, bathe in the lake. Visit Retba before traveling 300 km north to Saint-Louis, where you'll stay overnight.

Day 3: Saint-Louis or Djoudi Park

From April to October, explore Saint-Louis, walk the bridge, and observe fishing. From November to March, visit Djoudi Park, home to diverse bird species. Enjoy a raft trip on the Senegal River before a horse-drawn carriage tour in Saint-Louis.

Day 4: Saint-Louis - Langue de Barbarie

Travel across the Faidherbe bridge to Langue de Barbarie National Park for a full day and overnight stay.

Day 5: Langue de Barbarie

Spend the day exploring the Senegal River delta, observing local biodiversity, including pelicans and sea turtles. Overnight at Langue de Barbarie hotel.

Day 6: Langue de Barbarie - Lompoul Desert

Depart for the Lompoul Desert, where you'll ride in a 4x4 vehicle to the haima camp for lunch. In the evening, enjoy a bonfire dinner with traditional music and dances.

Day 7: Lompoul desert - Ndangane - Mar Fafako

Visit Ndangane for lunch and explore Mar Fafako via horse-drawn carriage followed by a kayak tour of the Salum Delta.

Day 8: Mar Fafako - Saloum Delta - Mar Fafako

Explore the mangrove swamps of the Salum River. Enjoy lunch before returning to Mar Fafako for overnight rest.

Day 9: Mar Fafako - Bandia Reserve - Somone

Go on safari in Bandia Reserve, observing wildlife such as rhinos, zebras, and giraffes. Post-lunch, travel to a hotel in Somone for rest.

Day 10: Somone - Dakar

Visit the lagoon of Somone, observing fisherwomen, and have lunch before heading to Blaise Diagne airport for your return flight.
