Excursion to the Saloum Delta

At the scheduled time, we will collect you from your accommodation in Dakar and travel by minibus to the village of Ndangane, which serves as the entry point to the Saloum Delta National Park. The ride lasts approximately 2.5 hours.

Upon arrival, we will board a boat and commence our exploration of the mangrove ecosystems at the confluence of the Sine and Salou rivers. During our three-hour journey, we will take in the stunning scenery and pass by local villages like Mar Fafako, Mar Souloum, and Mar Lodj. Additionally, we will gain insight into the lifestyle of the Fulani people.

As we navigate, we will also have the chance to observe various bird species soaring over the Saloum Delta. The region is home to pelicans, herons, cormorants, and numerous migratory birds from Europe and Africa, making it a remarkable Biosphere Reserve.

After our exploration, we will head back to Ndangane for lunch, where you can savor a traditional Senegalese dish. Finally, we will conclude our adventure with a return to the original meeting point after a full day of discovery, lasting around 10-12 hours.

2-Day Adventure

For those looking to extend their adventure, the 2-day excursion to the Saloum Delta offers an enhanced experience. The itinerary will closely resemble the one-day tour, but it provides ample time to immerse yourself in the beauty of the landscape as we stay in the area for one night under the stars.

Your overnight accommodation will be at the Essamaye camp, with meals including lunch and dinner on the first day, as well as breakfast on the second day. The excursion will wrap up around 2 pm on day two as we return you to your hotel in Dakar.
