Gdansk Boat Ride
We'll meet at the appointed time in the port of Galar, located in the former imperial shipyard in Gdansk. From here we'll start a walk aboard a galley boat. We'll sail along the Motlava River for 1 hour and 20 minutes to explore the characteristic places of Gdansk from a unique perspective. We'll have the opportunity to see the great merchant ships of the port and part of the historical centre, including the ruins of a Teutonic castle from the 14th century, where a wall with a fragment of a battlement remains.
We'll pass by the medieval crane of Gdansk, the oldest in the Baltic, which has undergone significant renovations due to damage from the Second World War. We'll also see the historical buildings of Olowianka Island, erected by the Knights of the Teutonic Order, and the remains of barns and warehouses that once housed hops and hemp, contrasting with the modernist blocks of today. Finally, we'll return to the starting point to conclude the galley ride.
What is the boat like?
The boats are inspired by the old galleys of the Middle Ages. They are made of wood and have a capacity of 12 people.
