Gdansk Boat Ride
We will meet at the appointed time in the port of Galar, located in the former imperial shipyard in Gdansk. The tour consists of a 1 hour and 20 minutes sail along the Motlava River. During the ride, we will see prominent sites of Gdansk, including great merchant ships and part of the historical center near the ruins of a 14th-century Teutonic castle, featuring a wall fragment of a battlement.
We will pass by the medieval crane of Gdansk, the oldest in the Baltic, which has been renovated due to damage from World War II. The tour also includes views of Olowianka Island and its historical buildings, erected by the Knights of the Teutonic Order, along with the remains of medieval barns and warehouses that stored hops and hemp, contrasting with modern architecture.
Finally, we will return to the starting point to conclude the galley ride.
What is the boat like?
The boats are inspired by old medieval galleys, made of wood, with a capacity for 12 people.
