Before entering, you will see the estate's 1500 square metres (16145 square feet), featuring some of the most beautiful gardens in the south of the USA.

During your visit, you'll uncover the history of this mansion, centred around large sugar production in the 19th century. Located between Baton Rouge and New Orleans, Houmas House is a unique attraction both inside and out. You will see its impressive art collection and well-preserved antique furniture.

Additionally, you'll learn about what life was like on a plantation in the south of the USA during significant years in the nation's history, creating a sense of traveling back in time.

Opening Hours

The Houmas House Estate is open from 9 am to 8 pm. Guided tours in English occur every half hour. You can join a tour upon arrival or explore the estate independently. The first tour starts at 9:30 am and the last one is at 7 pm.
