Bathurst Island Tour
We'll meet at Cullen Bay Terminal at 7:30 am and board a ferry to Bathurst Island. The journey lasts two hours and thirty minutes, offering views of the Timor Sea.
Upon arrival, we'll visit the Mission Heritage Gallery to learn about the aboriginal villages and the Tiwi style Catholic church, along with wooden sculptures of birds from Tiwi mythology.
Next, we'll visit a local village to meet the Tiwi Islands' aboriginal community and explore their rituals, dances, and body art, which has spiritual significance and reflects their social position.
We will enjoy a traditional tea accompanied by a small lunch. Afterwards, we will explore various craft shops to observe how locals create traditional sculptures.
The tour concludes with a ferry ride back to the meeting point, arriving in Darwin at 6 pm.
