Why Visit the Museum of Free Derry?
During your visit to the Free Derry Museum, you will explore the history of the city from 1968 to 1972, including the era known as "Free Derry", civil rights movements, the Battle of the Bogside, and Bloody Sunday, when the British Army committed mass murder in the streets of the Bogside. Following these events, the people of Derry, led by the families of the victims, initiated a new chapter in civil rights history that inspired many worldwide.
The Museum is located at the center of these historical events. You will navigate through the different rooms of the museum and examine the city's significant moments from the perspective of those most engaged in and impacted by these occurrences – the Free Derry community, while also considering the town's future in Northern Ireland.

The Museum of Free Derry is open daily at the following times:
Monday to Friday: 9:30 am to 6 pmSaturday and Sunday: 10 am to 4 pm
Final admission to the museum will be one hour before closing time.
