Cultural Tour of Guaitil

We will meet at the evangelical church of Guaitil, located just outside of Santa Cruz in the Guanacaste province. From there, we will explore the traditional village through its winding alleys.

During our stroll in Guaitil, we will experience the preserved 'tica' culture and the hospitality of the local community. Each turn reveals new smiles as we discuss Guaitil's rich indigenous history and foundation.

We will also learn about the main local trade of creating art from mud and clay, a practice originating from pre-Hispanic times, along with local culinary techniques.

After our village tour, we will visit a local family's home for an authentic Costa Rican experience. You can select from the following activities during booking:

Activities in Guaitil

Each activity includes a village tour and a traditional experience at a local home. Available activities are:

Tortilla workshop (30 minutes): Prepare tortillas in the Chorotega style by hand.Ceramic demonstration (30 minutes): Observe artisans creating unique ceramic pieces.Rosquillas & tanelas workshop (40 minutes): Learn to make traditional sweets with cinnamon, panela, and cheese.Homemade bread workshop (1 hour): Create unique Guanacasteco bread with traditional techniques.Chicken achiote workshop (2 hours): Enjoy a traditional lunch after learning to prepare this popular dish.
