2-Day Sahara Desert Tour

Have a unique experience among oasis, dunes, and troglodyte villages! On this 2-day Sahara Desert tour we'll cross breathtaking landscapes, discover millenary Amazigh traditions and sleep under the stars of the desert, the most authentic experience in the south of Tunisia!

Tour Details

Day 1: Djerba - Chahbania - Tataouine - Chenini - Ksar Ghilane

We will pick you up at your hotel in Djerba to head south towards Tataouine. We will cross the historic Roman Road and make our first stop at the salt lake of Chahbania after a 1.5-hour drive. Next, we will visit Tataouine for a 1-hour walk in the village and its market, followed by a visit to the village of Chenini.

At noon, we will enjoy a traditional Amazigh lunch in a local restaurant. In the afternoon, we will enter the desert to reach the oasis of Ksar Ghilane, where you can choose to swim in a natural hot spring, ride a camel or quad bike, or take a leisurely walk.

At sunset, we will arrive at Zemla camp. You can learn to bake bread traditionally and enjoy dinner under the stars, featuring typical dishes.

Day 2: Ksar Ghilane - Tamazret - Sidi Idriss - Toujane - Djerba

After breakfast in the desert, we will head to the mountainous region of Matmata. Our first stop will be in Tamazret for mint tea. Then we will visit Matmata and have a homemade lunch with a local family.

We will later visit the Sidi Idriss troglodyte hotel, a notable site from the Star Wars saga. Before returning to Djerba, we will stop in Toujane for souvenir photos and last-minute gifts.

Tour concludes with a return to your hotel in Djerba between 3 and 4 pm.

Accommodation

This activity includes 1 night of accommodation in a haima at Zemla camp. We offer single, double, triple, and quadruple tents with electricity and a shared washing area, separated by gender, with toilets and showers.
