Day Trip to Tataouine & Chenini

Day Trip Details

At the designated time, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Djerba to start the day trip to southern Tunisia. We will drive for 2 hours along the old Roman road towards Tataouine, with a brief stop at the Chahbania Salt Lake to admire its beauty.

In Tataouine, we'll spend 1 to 2 hours discovering its history, including a former French penal colony. We will visit the local market and traditional constructions that served as community granaries.

Our next destination is Chenini, a village on a mountain slope. Following a 20-minute drive, we'll observe troglodyte houses and visit an old mosque to learn about the area's ancient history.

After exploring Chenini for an hour, we will break for lunch in a restaurant to taste local cuisine, including Tunisian pastries and couscous. Post-lunch, we will continue to discover the village's narrow streets and Berber culture at Ksar Ouled Soltan, a well-preserved fortified granary.

On our way back to Djerba, we will stop for 30 minutes at Ksar Hadada, a filming location for Star Wars.

After a total of 8 hours, we will conclude the trip at your hotel.
