On this tour to the Igartubeiti winepress, we will visit a 16th-century farmhouse and a Basque cider house. A delicious lunch is included.
Tour Highlights
We will pick you up at the specified time at Calle Bengoetxea in San Sebastián, then travel to Ezkio. Here, we will visit the Igartubeiti winepress, a 16th-century Basque farmhouse, to learn about the elaboration process of cider.
During the visit, we will see the wooden materials used to squeeze the apples. The cider production process in the 16th century involved various artisanal methods, which will be explained.
After exploring the facility, we will visit a Basque cider house. Depending on the season and availability, we may go to one of the following cider houses: Aburuza, Astarbe, Petritegi, Iparragirre, or Saizar.
A guided tour of the site will precede a tasting of traditional cider. Lunch will be served on site, featuring a menu of cod omelette, fried cod, grilled steaks, cheese with marmalade and nuts, bread, cider, and water.
After lunch, we will return to the meeting point in San Sebastián, completing a 6-hour tour.
