On this tour to the Igartubeiti winepress, we will visit a 16th-century farmhouse and a Basque cider house while enjoying a delicious lunch.
Tour Highlights
We will pick you up at the designated time at Calle Bengoetxea in San Sebastián and proceed to Ezkio. In this Guipuzcoan area, we will find the Igartubeiti winepress, a 16th-century Basque farmhouse where we will learn about the elaboration process of cider.
During the visit, we will observe the wooden materials used to squeeze the apples. The 16th-century cider production involved multiple artisanal processes, which we will discuss.
After exploring the installation, we will visit a Basque cider house. Depending on the season and availability, we will go to either Aburuza, Astarbe, Petritegi, Iparragirre, or Saizar cider house.
Here, we will take a guided tour around the site followed by a tasting of traditional cider. Lunch will be served at the same location, featuring a menu that includes cod omelette, fried cod, grilled steaks, cheese with marmalade and nuts, bread, cider, and water.
After lunch, we will return to the meeting point in San Sebastián, concluding the 6-hour tour.
