Description

Situated at the narrowest point of the English Channel, Dover Castle is a strategically important stronghold in the United Kingdom, known as the 'Lock and Key of England'. During your visit, the medieval exhibition will take you back to the time of King Henry II and explore the castle's history from the 12th century.

Inside, you'll see recreations of various rooms, including private chambers, guest rooms, great halls, the armory, and the kitchen. The castle also offers views of the Strait of Dover and the town of Dover.

Access the medieval underground tunnels built into the cliffs of Dover, which were significant during World War II. Here, the Miracle of Dunkirk occurred in the 1940s.

Opening hours

Dover Castle is open at the following times:

July and August: 10 am - 6 pmMarch 29th to June 30th and September 1st to October 30th: 10 am - 5 pmOctober 31st to March 28th: 10 am - 4 pm

Final admission is two hours before closing. Opening hours are flexible and subject to change.
