Trinity College Library, Book of Kells & Dublin Castle Tour

Discover Dublin's treasures with a guided tour of the Book of Kells, Trinity College's Old Library, and Dublin Castle.

Tour Details

At the indicated time, we'll meet at the Edmund Burke Statue in Dublin. The tour will start at the Book of Kells, a Celtic manuscript over 1,200 years old, housed in Trinity College's Old Library. The book contains a Latin text of the four gospels, and the tour will cover its origins, intricate symbolism, and the preservation efforts by monks and Vikings.

After a 40-minute visit to the Book of Kells, there will be about 10 minutes of free time in the Trinity College shop. We will then briefly stop at the statue of Molly Malone to learn about her history.

Next, we'll visit Dublin Castle, built on an ancient Viking settlement in the 13th century. The castle has served various roles, including that of fortress and seat of English power in Ireland. During a 50-minute visit, we will tour the exterior, including the Record and Octagonal Towers and the gardens.

After a total of 3 hours, the tour will conclude near Dublin Castle. Slán!
