Set off on a day trip from Durango to explore the La Plata Mountains and Canyon in an off-roading Jeep. Choose between two different tour options beginning and ending at 360 S Camino Del Rio in Durango, including a local guide. Below are details of each tour option:

Scenic Waterfall Tour (2.5 hours)

Meet at the scheduled time in Durango for a tour of La Plata Canyon's waterfalls. Following a 20-minute drive in an open-air jeep, we will reach the canyon's entrance. Get ready for a bumpy ride as we ascend to view 3 waterfalls. We will navigate winding trails and stop at each waterfall for photos. The tour culminates at a hidden waterfall at 3,048 meters (10,000 ft) with an 8-meter (25 ft) cascade and historic mining structures. After 2.5 hours, we return to Durango.

La Plata Mountains Tour (4 hours)

This tour features La Plata Canyon, also known as Kennebec Pass. Starting with a 20-minute drive in an open-air jeep, we will watch for local wildlife, including deer, bears, marmots, elk, and various bird species. We will ascend to 3,658 m (12,000 ft), admiring the canyon's geology formed by ancient glaciers. Learn about the area's history, including ghost towns and abandoned mines. After 4 hours, we return to the starting point.
