Set off on a day trip from Durango to explore the La Plata Mountains and Canyon in an off-roading Jeep! Choose between two different tour options, both starting and finishing at 360 S Camino Del Rio in Durango, and including a local guide.

Scenic Waterfall Tour (2.5 hours)

Meet us at the indicated time in Durango for a tour of La Plata Canyon's scenic waterfalls. After a 20-minute drive in our open-air jeep, we’ll arrive at the canyon, where we will drive to discover 3 majestic falls. We will navigate winding trails and climb deeper into the canyon to take photos and enjoy the atmosphere. The tour culminates at a hidden waterfall, perched 3,048 meters (10,000 ft) above sea level, featuring an 8-meter (25 ft) cascade and views of historic mining structures. After 2.5 hours, we’ll return to Durango.

La Plata Mountains Tour (4 hours)

This tour features La Plata Canyon, also known as Kennebec Pass. We’ll begin with a 20-minute drive to the canyon base. While ascending, we might spot local wildlife such as deer, bears, and elk. We'll reach an elevation of 3,658 m (12,000 ft) to admire stunning landscapes and learn about the canyon's geology and history, including ghost towns and abandoned mines. After 4 hours of exploration, we will return to the starting point.
