Mapimí & Ojuela Day Trip
We'll pick you up from your hotel in Durango and set off for Mapimí, one of Mexico's Pueblos Mágicos (Magic Towns). Upon arrival, you'll have 1 hour of free time for breakfast.
Next, we will visit the Benito Juárez Museum, the former home of the "Benemérito de las Américas" during the itinerant Republic. Inside, you'll see his room, along with documents, utensils, and paintings related to this notable indigenous politician.
On our way out, we'll pass by the house where the revolutionary priest Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla stayed and visit the Church of Santiago Apóstol, renowned for its Baroque and Mudejar details dating back to the 18th century.
Afterwards, we will travel to the abandoned village of Ojuela, where you'll cross a spectacular suspension bridge that was used to transport minerals from the Santa Rita mine, discovered in 1598 by Spanish conquistadors and flooded in the mid-20th century. A guided tour will provide interesting historical insights about the area.
At the end of the tour, you'll have 1 hour of free time for lunch before we return to Durango, with an estimated arrival time back at your hotel 12 hours later.
