Nombre de Díos Day Trip
Your journey begins with a pickup from your hotel in Durango, followed by a scenic drive to Nombre de Díos, a pueblo mágico (magical town) where you will encounter the area's most stunning vistas.
The first stop is at the El Saltito Waterfalls, where you can marvel at the impressive 66-foot (20-meter) drop of water flowing from the Mezquital River. Next, we will visit the Berros Springs, where natural pools filled with water from the Acaponeta River offer the perfect opportunity for a refreshing swim.
Adjacent to the springs is the quaint village of La Constancia, where the Las Compuertas stream flows surrounded by fig, peach, and apricot trees. After this, we will head to El Malpaís mezcalería, a place where you will have the chance to sample mezcal. For fans of Westerns, we have a special treat: a visit to the stage that featured in the film A Man Called Horse.
Continuing the adventure, we will arrive at Nombre de Díos, established by the Spanish in 1563. As we meander through its picturesque cobblestone streets, you'll be captivated by historical sites, including the ex-convent of San Francisco. We will also make our way to the town's outskirts to admire El Cuevón, a striking landscape known for its population of golden eagles.
By the end of our exploration, we will return to Durango, with an estimated arrival time back at your hotel in about 6.5 hours.
