Tour Details
Écija once had 14 churches and 18 convents. We will meet at the Plaza de Santiago to begin this tour. Our first stop is the Church of Santiago, known for its Gothic-Mudéjar style. We will explore its facade and altarpiece, one of the most significant in the Archdiocese of Seville.
Next, we will visit Plaza de España, site of a primitive episcopal building, and view the exterior of the Church of Santa Barbara, constructed over a Roman temple.
We will then proceed to the Church of Santa Maria. The bell tower resembles the iconic Giralda in Seville, and we will discuss its history and examine archeological pieces in the courtyard.
Our next location is the Church of Los Descalzos, recognized as a Baroque gem. We will appreciate its interior despite the simple exterior.
The tour includes a pass by the Convent of Las Marroquíes before arriving at the Santa Cruz Parish Church. Lastly, we will admire the Church of San Pablo and Church of Santo Domingo, concluding our guided tour of Écija's churches after 2.5 hours.
