3-Day Tour of Skye and the Highlands

Explore the very north of Scotland, where the winds whip the wild edge of the United Kingdom. We'll see highlands highlights such as Loch Ness, the Great Glen, and more!

Description

Day 1

We’ll leave Edinburgh after meeting on High Street. Enjoy views of the Forth Bridge as we enter the Highlands, passing through Perthshire. Our first stop is the village of Dunkeld, known for its cathedral and location by the River Tay. We’ll then advance into the Great Glen, a 62 miles (100 km) valley, and arrive at Fort Augustus for time to explore Loch Ness. Next, we'll visit Eilean Donan Castle before heading to the Isle of Skye, where we'll spend the night in Portree.

Day 2

We’ll explore the Isle of Skye, learning about its myths and legends, including those of Bonnie Prince Charlie. Highlights include the Old Man of Storr, Kilt Rock with its waterfall, and Dunvegan Castle. We'll spend the night again in Portree.

Day 3

On our final day, we'll explore Skye before taking the ferry to Mallaig, with views from the coach such as the Glenfinnan Viaduct. We’ll visit the Dundreggan Rewilding Centre and then head south through Glencoe and Rannoch Moor, arriving back in Edinburgh around 8:30 pm at Waterloo Place.

Itinerary changes

In winter (mid-October to mid-April), the itinerary changes, with Dunvegan Castle visited only in summer. The third day will include the Skye Bridge and Commando Memorial for views of Ben Nevis. The tour may run in reverse and routes are subject to change while still visiting the same attractions.

Accommodation

Packages are Bed and Breakfast only, with accommodations based in Portree. Breakfast is included; no other meals are provided.
