Edinburgh Castle is a prominent attraction in Scotland. The Edinburgh Castle Guided Tour allows visitors to explore its history, located on a dormant volcano.

Tour Description

The tour starts at the Royal Mile, just outside St. Giles's Cathedral, leading to the medieval castle. Participants will enjoy stunning views of the city and its surroundings. After receiving tickets, the group will explore the castle's main buildings, three museums, and war prisons.

St. Margaret's Chapel, the oldest surviving building in Edinburgh.Crown Square, the castle’s main courtyard, featuring the Great Hall.The Scottish National War Memorial.The Royal Palace, where James Stuart was born.

Visitors will also see the vault for the Scottish crown jewels, known as the Honours of Scotland, and the Stone of Destiny. The guided tour lasts 1.5 hours and concludes near the castle.

Ticket to Edinburgh Castle

For tours without tickets, participants must buy their own tickets, valid for the same time and date as the tour. It is advisable to purchase tickets in advance, especially during high season. This option does not cater to those wishing to view only the castle's exterior. Those without tickets cannot join the tour.

The ticketless option is only for those with tickets from other sources or an Explorer Pass. Others must select the ticketed option.

Guided Visit

Edinburgh Castle includes over 20 buildings. The guided tour occurs within the citadel, with a guide providing information outside each building. Participants will have the freedom to explore the buildings at their own pace after the tour concludes.
