Holy Island & Alnwick Castle Day Trip
On the morning of your activity, you will meet in Edinburgh city centre, board a luxury coach, and head south into northeast England via a scenic coastal route with views of the rugged landscape. The first stop will be Holy Island, connected to Lindisfarne by a tidal causeway, a pilgrimage destination since the Middle Ages. You can explore the ruins of the Priory and ancient Castle, and sample the famous mead brewed by monks.
Next, you will continue to Alnwick, known for its market town atmosphere and home to the 11th-century Alnwick Castle. Here, you can stroll around the town centre or explore the castle complex and elegant gardens, which include the Grand Cascade. The grounds were also used as a filming location in Harry Potter.
Later, you will head north to Coldstream, near the English-Scottish border. If time permits, you will stop at Flodden Field, the site of the 1513 battle. The return to Edinburgh is expected around 6:15 pm.
