St. Andrews & Fife's Fishing Villages Day Trip
At 9 am we'll depart from the meeting point indicated and leave Edinburgh crossing the famous Forth Bridge towards Fife. We'll pass through the village of Aberdour and then continue on to the East Neuk of Fife, known for its small harbours that were once crucial to Scotland's East coast fishing trade.
As we travel along the coast, we'll stop in Anstruther to visit the Scottish Fisheries Museum. Next, we'll proceed to Pittenweem, Crail, and St. Monans, which were significant fishing centres in the region.
Upon arriving in St. Andrews, you will have three hours of free time to have lunch and explore the cobbled streets and medieval facades. Notable sights include the oldest university in Scotland, the impressive cathedral, and the renowned golf course.
Afterward, we will return to Edinburgh, traveling across the Lomond hills with a stop in Falkland, the setting for the Outlander series. Another notable site will be Loch Leven, where a scene for Mary Queen of Scots was filmed. Our final stop will be South Queensferry.
We will arrive back in Edinburgh at 5:45 pm.
