St. Andrews & Fife's Fishing Villages Day Trip
We will depart promptly at 9 am from the designated meeting point, heading from Edinburgh across the iconic Forth Bridge towards the stunning region of Fife. Our first notable stop will be the scenic village of Aberdour, followed by a journey into the East Neuk of Fife, celebrated for its enchanting coastal landscapes and historic harbours that once thrived from the East Coast's fishing industry.
As we traverse this delightful stretch of coastline, our first pause will be in Anstruther, home to the Scottish Fisheries Museum. We will then continue our exploration of Pittenweem, Crail, and St. Monans, villages that played significant roles in the region's fishing heritage.
Next, we will reach St. Andrews, where you will enjoy three hours of leisure time. During this period, you can savor lunch and explore the charming cobbled streets and medieval architecture. Be sure to visit the historic site where Prince William encountered Kate Middleton at Scotland's oldest university, admire the impressive cathedral, and discover the famous golf course.
After your time in St. Andrews, we will make our return to Edinburgh. Our route back will take us through the magnificent Lomond hills, with a stop in the lovely village of Falkland, known for its features in the Outlander series. As we continue, we will pass by Loch Leven, recognized for its role in the story of Mary Queen of Scots. Our journey culminates with a visit to South Queensferry before we arrive back in Edinburgh.
You can expect to return to Edinburgh by 5:45 pm.
