Discover why El Chalten is known as Patagonia's hiking capital when you take this trip to the "youngest town in Argentina".
El Chalten Trip
After morning pickup from your hotel in El Calafate, we will head to El Chalten. The itinerary starts on the 'Ruta 40' road, which borders Argentino Lake and crosses the Santa Cruz River. During the drive through stunning Patagonia scenery, stories about Darwin and Fitz Roy will be shared.
A stop will be made at the settlement of La Leona, where you can stretch your legs and enjoy coffee and a traditional homemade pastry (not included). Following this, we will continue along the shorelines of Viedma Lake, appreciating the vistas of the Torre and Fitz Roy mountain ranges.
Upon arriving at El Chalten, officially founded in the 1970s, we will visit the town's Interpretation Centre before continuing by minibus to an Operational Base. You will then have free time for a hike of your choice, with a map of the trails provided. A picnic will be included featuring two ham and cheese sandwiches, a piece of fruit, a sweet treat, and a bottle of water.
After your time in this beautiful location, we will reconvene for the return journey to Calafate, where drop-off will occur.
