Discover why El Chalten is known as Patagonia's hiking capital when you take this trip to the "youngest town in Argentina".
El Chalten Trip
After collecting you in the morning from your hotel in El Calafate, we will head to El Chalten. Our itinerary begins on 'Ruta 40' road, which borders Argentino Lake and crosses over Santa Cruz River. As we drive through the scenery of Patagonia, we'll learn about the experiences of Darwin and Fitz Roy in this area.
We will stop at the settlement of La Leona on the river of the same name. Here, you can stretch your legs and enjoy a coffee and homemade pastry (not included). Later, we will continue along the shorelines of Viedma Lake and appreciate the landscapes of the Torre and Fitz Roy mountain ranges.
Upon reaching El Chalten, the youngest town in Argentina officially founded in the 1970s, we will visit the town's Interpretation Centre and then proceed by minibus to an Operational Base. You will have free time for a hike at your leisure and will receive a map of the trails, along with a picnic that includes two ham and cheese sandwiches, a piece of fruit, a sweet treat, and a bottle of water.
After enjoying your free time, we will regroup to begin our return journey to El Calafate, where you will be dropped off.
