Lake of the Desert Trip

At the scheduled time, we'll pick you up at your hotel in El Chaltén and drive for one and a half hours along mountain roads and the Río de las Vueltas river to reach Lago del Desierto (Desert Lake).

Once there, we'll head to the pier and board the boat for a 30-minute ride, admiring the Huemul and Crestón glaciers. You will also visit the Vespignani Glacier with free time to admire its ice tongues and the north face of Mount Fitz Roy.

After exploring the glacier, we will have a rest with hot tea and cookies. We will then set sail across the Lago del Desierto before returning to El Chaltén, concluding our adventure 9 hours after we began.

Half-day trip

If you have less time, we offer a half-day tour with a shortened itinerary and less free time at the Vespignani Glacier.

Times and Collection

When booking, choose between a pickup at your hotel in El Chaltén or arrival at the Punta Sur dock of Lago del Desierto. Pickup times vary for full-day and half-day excursions.

Half-day excursion with pickup: pickup is at 11:00 am at Avenida San Martín, 55 (El Chaltén, Santa Cruz, Argentina).Full-day tour with pickup: pickup is between 7:30 and 8:00 am at your hotel.

If you select the excursion without a pickup, be at the Punta Sur dock of Lago del Desierto at 9:45 am for the full-day excursion or at 12:45 pm for the half-day excursion.
