Desert Lake Trip

Explore the natural beauty of the Andes with this trip to Desert Lake. You will also enjoy a boat ride and take in views of the Vespignani Glacier.

Lake of the Desert Trip

At the scheduled time, we'll pick you up at your hotel in El Chaltén and drive for one and a half hours along mountain roads, leafy forests, and alongside the Río de las Vueltas until we reach the Lago del Desierto (Desert Lake).

Once there, we'll board the boat for around 30 minutes. As we drift, we will see the remarkable Huemul and Crestón glaciers. This is a memorable experience.

Next, we visit the Vespignani Glacier for free time to admire the panorama of the ice tongues, including the north face of Mount Fitz Roy!

After exploring the glacier, we'll stop for a rest and a hot tea with cookies. Then, we will sail across the Lago del Desierto before heading back to El Chaltén, concluding our adventure 9 hours after we began.

Half-day trip

If you have less time, we offer a half-day tour option with a shortened itinerary and less free time at the Vespignani Glacier.

Times and Collection

When booking, you can choose pickup at your hotel in El Chaltén or make your own way to the Punta Sur dock of Lago del Desierto. Pickup times vary by tour option.

Half-day excursion with pickup: pickup at 11:00 am at Avenida San Martín, 55 (El Chaltén, Santa Cruz, Argentina).Full-day tour with pickup: pickup at your hotel between 7:30 and 8:00 am.

If you select the excursion without a pickup, arrive at the Punta Sur dock of Lago del Desierto at 9:45 am for the full-day excursion and at 12:45 pm for the half-day excursion.
