Mayo Indigenous Community Tour
At the specified time, we will pick you up at your hotel in El Fuerte and proceed to a community of Mayo Indigenous Peoples to explore their ancestral culture, which resides between southern Sonora and northern Sinaloa.
Upon arrival, we will engage with community members, identified as Yoreme, meaning "people who respect tradition." Notably, the first traces of settlement in the Yoreme region date back to 180 BC.
Community members will demonstrate the preparation of typical tortillas and antojitos, corn-based foods typically served with chili sauce as an appetizer. These dishes are available for tasting.
During the visit, participants will also witness popular ancestral dances, including the dance of the deer, which illustrates the life and death of this sacred animal in the Mayo/Yoreme culture, offering a captivating experience.
After two hours, the activity concludes with a farewell at the meeting point in El Fuerte.
