Mayo Indigenous Community Tour
At the indicated time, we'll pick you up at your hotel in El Fuerte and head to a community of Mayo Indigenous Peoples to learn about this ancestral culture from the area between the south of Sonora and the north of Sinaloa.
Upon arrival, we'll speak with residents of the community, who refer to each other as Yoreme, meaning "people who respect tradition". The first traces of settlement in the Yoreme region date back to 180 BC.
Next, some members of the community will show us how the typical tortillas and antojitos are prepared. These corn-based foods are usually served with chili sauce as an appetizer.
During our visit to this indigenous community, we'll also experience popular ancestral dances, including the dance of the deer, which illustrates the life and death of the culture's most sacred animal.
After two hours, we'll conclude the activity and say goodbye at the meeting point in El Fuerte.
