Step into the heart of the Bay of Cadiz to discover the secrets of El Puerto de Santa María with this Culture & History Tour. Explore the old shipping town, now renowned for its wine tradition.
Description
We'll meet up at the Alfonso X el Sabio Square at the designated time. From here, we'll begin our tour of El Puerto de Santa Maria, a historic trade port connected to the New World.
Our first stop will be at the San Marcos Castle, a fortress that, along with the Virgin de los Milagros, forms the city's coat of arms. We'll admire the styles of this 12th-century castle built on the base of an ancient Arab mosque. We'll also see the exterior of the Araníbar palace, which illustrates why El Puerto de Santa María is known as the city of a hundred palaces.
We'll continue strolling through the streets visiting other points of interest, such as the Plaza de España, the exterior of the minor basilica Virgen de los Milagros, and the palace of the Marquesa de Candía.
After visiting the most representative places of El Puerto de Santa María, we'll go to a local bar to learn about the wine-making process and enjoy a glass of wine.
