We'll meet at Praça da Republica as the sun begins to sink below the horizon to start this tour of Elvas.

As the day's last rays tint the historic buildings of this fortified city of the Alentejo region, we'll walk through the impressive walls and bastions. Elvas has the largest collection of fortifications in the world, and we'll share insights on them during the tour.

Afterward, we'll walk to the Castle of Elvas, part of the city's fortified complex. We'll access its medieval tower to enjoy views enhanced by the sunset colors.

Our next stop will be the Amoreira Aqueduct, built in the 16th century by order of King John III of Portugal to supply water to the city. After admiring this construction, we'll head to the military cistern designed a century later, which connects to the aqueduct via an underground tunnel.

We'll observe its vaulted ceiling and discuss some curiosities about this site. The tour lasts a total of 2 hours and concludes in Praça 25 de Abril.
