Build an Igloo

Feel like a true Eskimo when you build your very own Igloo in the mountains of Andorra. This is the perfect adventure to have during your visit to Escaldes.

Build an Igloo

We will meet at 3 pm in the El Cubil car park at the Grau Roig ski resort. There, we will pick up all the material and tools needed for this igloo building activity before heading into the forests of the Moretó Valley.

On the way we will learn about the lifestyle of the Eskimos and the features of their icy houses. We will then start to create a compacting or block igloo, depending on the snow density of that day. Participants will learn how these igloos can maintain warmth even in temperatures of -40º.

Shovels and saws are the only tools required to construct these icy structures. Once the igloo is complete, we will enter it to experience the temperature difference from the outside.

After an hour and a half of learning and building igloos, we will return to the original departure point where our experience concludes.
