The Vesuvius Valley is an area rich in vineyards. On this tour of the Fuocomuorto Winery in Herculaneum, we'll explore a vineyard at the feet of a volcano and have a tasting of 3 wines made in the area.
Tour Details
At the designated time, we'll meet at the entrance to the Fuocomuorto Winery, a family business located a few minutes away from the archaeological site of Herculaneum. Its vineyards are in the middle of the Vesuvius National Park, between the volcano's slopes and the Mediterranean Sea.
We'll begin the visit with a tour of the winery's terraced vineyards, where you'll learn about the different grape varieties and volcanic soil features.
Afterwards, we'll explore a natural cave in the winery, created by volcanic lava after the 1780 eruption, discussing the ageing of wines and the wine-making family's history, as well as viewing historical grape pressing objects.
The final part of the tour consists of a tasting of 3 wines: a Vesuvio Lacryma Christi red and white, plus an extra dry sparkling rosé, accompanied by a tasting of local products such as a charcuterie and cheese board, homemade preserves, and Neapolitan sweets.
After this tasting, the tour will come to an end after a total of 2 hours.
