The Vesuvius Valley is an area rich in vineyards. On this tour of the Fuocomuorto Winery in Herculaneum, we'll explore a vineyard at the feet of a volcano and have a tasting of 3 wines made in the area.
Tour Details
At the designated time, we'll meet at the entrance to the Fuocomuorto Winery, located a few minutes from the archaeological site of Herculaneum. Its vineyards are situated in the Vesuvius National Park, between the volcano's slopes and the Mediterranean Sea.
We'll start with a tour of the winery's terraced vineyards, where you'll enjoy views of the Gulf of Naples. During this, you'll learn about the grape varieties and volcanic soil features.
Next, we'll explore a natural cave in the winery, formed by volcanic lava post-1780 eruption, discussing the ageing of wines and the family's wine-making history, along with historical objects used for grape pressing and agriculture.
The tour will conclude with a tasting of 3 wines: a Vesuvio Lacryma Christi red and white, and an extra dry sparkling rosé. A food pairing with local products will include a charcuterie and cheese board, homemade preserves, and Neapolitan sweets.
The total duration of the tour is 2 hours.
