On this excursion from Esquel, you'll discover the Welsh legacy of Trevelin and the Futaleufú Hydroelectric Complex.
Trevelin & Futaleufú Excursion
We'll depart from your hotel in Esquel at 2:30 pm. After a half-hour drive, we'll arrive in Trevelin, a Patagonian town established in the second half of the 19th century by Welsh settlers.
During the guided tour of Trevelin, we'll explore the history of these immigrants at the Regional Museum, which showcases their lifestyle. Additionally, we will visit chapels and Welsh-style homes built in the area.
The excursion will proceed to Los Alerces National Park, a vast natural area bordering Chile. Here, we'll walk along the shore of Amutui Quimey Lake, which feeds the Futaleufú Hydroelectric Complex, a significant dam that regulates water flow.
After touring the hydroelectric complex, we'll return to Trevelin for an hour of leisure to enjoy a Welsh-style snack. Local cafés typically offer British menus featuring tea, pastries, toast with jam, and muffins.
We will conclude the excursion and return to your hotel in Esquel, arriving at 7:30 pm.
