Salcha, Delta Junction & Summit Lake Day Trip

This day trip explores the scenery of inland Alaska, including mountains and wildlife. Pickup is between 8 and 9 am from your hotel in Fairbanks, followed by a drive south along the Tanana River.

The first stop is a traditional carpentry store in Salcha, where birch wood carving is showcased. Next, we'll visit Big Delta State Historic Park, featuring well-preserved early 20th-century houses. The park offers views of Quartz Lake, Delta Flats, the Trans-Alaska Pipeline System, and the Delta Clear Water River.

A stop in Delta Junction allows for lunch at a local restaurant. After lunch, we'll visit Sullivan's Roadhouse to learn about Alaska's gold rush history from the late 19th century.

Following this, we will enjoy views of the Black Rapids Glacier and the area's wildlife, including moose, buffalo, and caribou. The trip concludes with a visit to Summit Lake, known for its natural beauty. Finally, we will return to your hotel in Fairbanks between 8 pm and 9 pm.
