Castle Voltaire Ticket

The ticket to Castle Voltaire in Ferney-Voltaire gives you access to the home where the intellectual spent the last 20 years of his life. The town was originally called Ferney but was renamed to honor the philosopher.

Behind the neoclassical façade, there is a museum dedicated to the philosopher. The exhibition shows day-to-day life for Voltaire during the Age of Enlightenment, including his private collection of artwork, library, and office, where he wrote works such as Candide and Treatise on Tolerance.

A visit to the Château includes its beautiful French-style gardens which extend over seven hectares of land, providing a retreat from modern city life.

Castle Voltaire has the following opening hours:

April 1st to September 30th: from 10 am to 6 pmOctober 1st to March 31st: from 10 am to 5 pmOn December 24th and 31st: closing time is 4 pm

Please note that final admission is 45 minutes before closing time.

Free Admission

Admission to Castle Voltaire is free for the following individuals:

Young people from the European Union between 18 and 25 years old.Children under 18 years old, regardless of nationality.

To acquire the free admission, visit the site’s ticket office and present a certifying document of eligibility. Admission is also free for everyone on the first Sunday of the month between January 1 and March 31, between November 1 and December 31, and the third weekend of September.
