2 Day Morocco Desert Trip

Spend an unforgettable night in an Amazigh desert camp on a 2-day trip to the endless fields of golden dunes near the picturesque village of Merzouga.

Description

Day 1: Fez – Ifrane – Azrou – Erfoud – Merzouga

Depart from Fez in the morning towards the small village of Merzouga. Cross the Middle Atlas Mountains and its cedar woods, known for Barbary Apes. Admire the city of Ifrane, recognized for its architecture and as a ski resort, and pass through Azrou.

Continue through the Ziz Valley and dramatic gorges, passing villages like Midelt and Erfoud. From Erfoud, take a dirt road to Merzouga.

As the sun sets, ride a camel across the golden dunes to a traditional desert camp for a Moroccan meal and overnight stay in a comfortable Amazigh tent.

Day 2: Rissani – Ziz Valley – Middle Atlas – Fez

Wake early for a dune sunrise. Afterwards, return to Merzouga for breakfast and a shower (depending on the camp type, breakfast and shower might be before the camel ride).

On the return trip to Fez, stop in Tafilalt and Rissani, tied to the Alawite dynasty's history. In the forests of Azrou, observe the local wild monkeys.

The tour concludes in Fez in the late evening.

Desert Camps

Two camp options are available: standard tents accommodating up to 4 people with shared facilities, and luxury tents for up to 5 with private bathrooms. A single supplement applies for individual bookings or separate rooms. Air conditioning in luxury tents incurs an additional charge of 30 EUR per person.
