3 Day Merzouga Desert Private Day Trip

This 3-day day trip to Merzouga from Fez is designed for those interested in experiencing the Moroccan Sahara Desert and its culture.

3-Day Tour Details

Day 1: Fez - Ifrane - Azrou - Erfoud - Merzouga

Depart from Fez at 8 am to reach the village of Merzouga. Travel through the Middle Atlas Mountains and admire Ifrane, known for its architecture and as a ski resort, and the town of Azrou. Cross the Ziz Valley and drive past Midelt and Erfoud before arriving at Merzouga, where you will stay in a hotel near the desert.

Day 2: Enjoying Merzouga Desert

Explore the Eastern Sahara via 4x4, visiting nomad settlements, oases, and the dunes of Erg Chebbi. Visit the village of Khamlia, home to the world-renowned Gnawa musicians. In the evening, enjoy a camel ride into the dunes and spend the night in a Berber tent.

Day 3: Rissani - Ziz Valley - Middle Atlas - Fez

Witness a sunrise on the dunes before returning to Merzouga for breakfast and a shower. On the way back to Fez, visit Tafilalt and Rissani, notable for its historical connection to the Alawite dynasty, and stop in Azrou's forests to feed wild monkeys. The tour concludes in Fez in the late afternoon.

Transportation is provided in a Toyota Landcruiser with air-conditioning and an English-speaking chauffeur.

Single rooms are not available; only double, triple, or family rooms can be booked. Standard haimas accommodate up to 4 people with shared bathrooms, while luxury haimas accommodate up to 5 with private bathrooms. Air conditioning in luxury camps incurs an additional fee of 30 EUR per person.
