3 Day Merzouga Desert Private Day Trip

This 3-day trip to Merzouga from Fez offers an authentic experience of the Moroccan Sahara Desert and its culture.

3-Day Tour Details

Day 1: Fez - Ifrane - Azrou - Erfoud - Merzouga

Depart from Fez at 8 am toward Merzouga, crossing the Middle Atlas Mountains and passing through Ifrane and Azrou. After traveling through the Ziz Valley, reach Merzouga for your first night at a hotel near the desert.

Day 2: Enjoying Merzouga Desert

Explore the Eastern Sahara by 4x4, visiting nomad settlements and the Erg Chebbi dunes. Visit Khamlia and experience local Gnawa music. In the evening, ride camels into the dunes to stay overnight in a Berber tent.

Day 3: Rissani - Ziz Valley - Middle Atlas - Fez

Start the day by watching the sunrise from a dune. After breakfast in Merzouga, return to Fez with stops in Tafilalt and Rissani, and feed wild monkeys in the forests of Azrou. The tour concludes in Fez in the late afternoon.

Day Trip Transport

The tour includes transportation by Toyota Landcruiser with air-conditioning and an English-speaking chauffeur.

Standard:
First night in Merzouga: Riad Mamouche / Dar Tafouyte.Second night: Amazigh desert camp.

Luxury:
First night in Merzouga: Riad Nezha / Merzouga Guest House / Dar el Janoub / Riad Madu / Riad Azawad.Second night: Luxury desert camp with private bathroom.

Single rooms are not available; only double, triple, or family rooms are offered. Standard camps have shared bathrooms; luxury camps provide private bathrooms for up to 5 people. An additional fee of 30EUR per person applies for air conditioning in luxury camps.
