Palace of Fontainebleau
The Palace of Fontainebleau is located in the Paris-Isle de France region, approximately an hour's drive or a 40-minute train ride from Paris.
The palace, with origins in medieval times, notably developed during the 16th century under King François I.

Château de Fontainebleau.
The palace comprises around 1,500 rooms, including the Salon Louis XIII, Salon François I, and Napoleon I's throne room. Don't miss the royal chapels, Pope Pius VII's apartment, Renaissance rooms, Napoleon I's quarters, and 19th-century galleries. An English audio guide is available for 4EUR per person.
Napoleon I Museum
This museum features a collection of furniture, art, and artifacts from the First Empire (1804-1814) related to Napoleon I's reign.
Park and gardens
The park covers 130 hectares, including the English and Diana gardens, carp pond, and Grand Canal. A tourist train is available for 7EUR per person.

The palace and Napoleon I Museum are open daily (except Tuesdays):
April to September: 9:30 am to 6 pm (last access at 5:15 pm)October to March: 9:30 am to 5 pm (last access at 4:15 pm)
Note that some areas may close early. Expect the tour of the palace to take about two hours.
Courtyards and gardens of the palace
November to February: 9 am to 5 pm (last access at 4 pm)March to October: 9 am to 6 pm (last access at 5 pm)
The park is open Monday to Friday, 24 hours a day, but the Marrier gate operates from 7:30 pm to 9 am. Hours may vary.
